Our sister parish is the Church of the Holy Spirit in Maggotty, Jamaica. Our parish initially agreed to send Holy Spirit Parish $150.00 per month to pay the pastor's salary. In February 2000, we were able to meet the pastor, Fr. Marek Bzinkowski, who "miraculously" recuperated from a very serious auto accident just a few months earlier. While here, he made an appeal to the parish for the Diocese of Mandeville. The parish response was $5,763.50. In November 2000, eight of our parishioners traveled to Maggotty for a week of hands-on mission work. Subsequent to this visit a young Holy Spirit parishioner was able to come to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA to receive medical attention for a rare disease. Finally, in June 2001 Father Bender attended the Dedication Ceremony for Holy Spirit Parish's newly completed church.The Parish Council is charged with making our Parish Mission Statement come to life. It serves as a consultative body to the Pastor, assisting him in matters pertaining to both the spiritual and material welfare of the parish.

While we support their diocese financially, the moral and spiritual support is mutual. In particular, in 1999 our parish, adopted a sister parish within this Mandeville Diocese. Marek of Holy Spirit parish frequently send letters of gratitude for the aid our Good Shepherd Parish is able to give. We hope in the future we are able to provide Holy Spirit Parish the means to build a small school to help the children of Maggotty, Jamaica.
